Futures Program
The Futures Program strives to prepare each child for independence and self-sufficiency through guidance counseling, career education programming, higher education scholarships, life skills workshops, and transitional support.

As most of our students come from underprivileged and vulnerable family backgrounds, we support them during the critical transition period after 8th grade through higher education and job entry.
Our History & Growth
Conceptualized in 2015 by staff, board, and volunteers, the Futures Program formally launched in 2016 to introduce life skills training and the Higher Education Fund.
In 2018, BlinkNow hired its first Career Counselor. By 2019, the office shifted to the new Green Campus Vocational Office to directly mentor +2 Management and senior students.
Key Program Components
Education Funding
Includes +2 Scholarships for grade 10 graduates pursuing Management, Science, Education, or Vocational Diplomas, and the Higher Education Fund (HEF) providing interest-free university scholarship support.
Mentorship & Career Guidance
1-on-1 and classroom mentorship focused on personal growth, government-aligned career guidance curriculum, decision making, and university application support.
STEAM Makerspace
A collaborative workspace for Grade 8–12 students to explore Robotics/Electro-Mechatronics, Ceramics/Pottery, and Paper Processing to spark entrepreneurship.
Job-Readiness & Internships
45-day internships starting from Grade 10 to Grade 12, paired with workshops on CV writing, email etiquette, interview practice, and workplace professionalism.
Civic Service & Volunteerism
Encouraging civic leadership through community service learning, elder home repairs, disaster relief, and legal setup (citizenship card & bank accounts).
Alumni & Entrepreneurship
Kopila Valley Alumni Association (KVAA), Student Entrepreneurship Fund for small business ideas, and monthly Inspirational Speaker Series.

Grade 10: Career Focus & Internships
Job Readiness: Public speaking, strength awareness, 45-day internship start.
Financials: Learning expenses for +2 courses, budgeting basics.
Service: 30-35 hours of volunteering and civic service projects.
Grade 11 & 12: Professional Development & Transition
Leadership: Negotiation skills, Kathmandu university tour, CV writing, interview prep.
Financials: Managing budgets, understanding HEF interest-free loans.
Service: 40 hours of volunteering and professional internships in Kathmandu/Surkhet.
Alumni Outcome: Self-Sufficiency & Leadership
Independence: Confident in career path, negotiating salary, economic independence.
Giving Back: Alumni network support, mentoring younger students, community advocacy.
Target Demographic
We believe transitioning to adulthood starts at a young age. Within our school curriculum, we adopt techniques to teach kids as young as nursery. This causes positive spillover effects between our school and future’s programs. The primary target audience for our Future’s program activities is 8th grade through post-graduate alumni.

Insipiring Students
Professional development workshops help students evaluate their strengths and build interview skills. The Inspirational Speaker Series brings in talented Nepalis and international speakers to share their professional journeys and help students understand career options. Each year, Grade 10 students visit Kathmandu universities, vocational schools, cultural heritage sites, and businesses to explore career andeducation options. Networking with professionals also results in mentorship and internship opportunities.
Futures Center
The center is outfitted with laptops and hi-speed Wi-Fi. Students come during free periods, at lunch, and before and after school to check emails, practice typing, write essays, and research scholarships. Futures courses happen here too. We strive to instill in our young adults, at both Kopila Valley Children’s Home and Kopila Valley School, a sense of responsibility to give back to their communities and contribute to the development of Nepal. It’s exciting that 20 alumni have returned to volunteer and work at Kopila Valley, and we are proud to watch the ripple effect as they positively influence their families, communities, and the entire global community.
Careers & Education
We provide learning and support for students to explore higher education and future career options. Career counseling is relatively new in Nepal, and we are
helping students learn how to dream! This includes for Grades 8-12:
