All families who have a child enrolled in Kopila Valley School are active participants of the health
and wellness program. Due to the nature of our selection process, many of our students are
orphaned, living in temporary or broken family units, an important differentiator that must be
considered in our approach for holistic support. Most services are targeted towards the student
themselves. However our social workers conduct home visits with guardians informally and
formally through the Family Development Program
Target Demographic

Disease and malnutrition are
widespread in Nepal’s remote
regions. The line between life and
death is often razor-thin—what may
be a simple diagnosis could mean
the difference between life and
death, or it may be missed entirely.
Health, sanitation, and education
go together. Many health issues
can be prevented through proper
education and better habits. Our
clinic offers free over-the-counter
basic services and referrals to
specialists to help tackle larger
health issues.
Our health services are
comprehensive of the whole
patient and include routine
medicine, dental care, mental
health, and social wellbeing.

Health & Education

We provide the following for every
student at Kopila Valley School:
Annual physical exams
Hearing and vision screening
Anti-parasite treatment &
prevention
Extensive dental hygiene,
including daily brushing at
school, exams by a local
dentist, and treatment when
necessary
Tuberculosis screening
Mental health wellness checks
with students and families, as
well as social worker support
Individual monitoring and
tracking of nutrition, BMI
statistics, and chronic issues

Services

We provide preventive and primary
care, plus basic health education, to
students and the community,
assisted by local medical
professionals. The clinic combines
natural holistic methods and modern
Western medical treatments to help
children and families improve and
maintain their quality of health. We
support the mental health needs of
our students and community
through our social work and
counseling team. When disaster
strikes, our clinic serves as a hub for
emergency food distribution and
community health services.
